The projects generate relevant knowledge about the green tech landscape and are a gateway to a range of potential funders, legal counsel, and local and international commercial networks. Partners, member states, local stakeholders and funders are involved in the planning, organization and implementation of each project. With help from national intellectual property offices and local partners on the ground, WIPO GREEN aims to mobilize innovative new technologies in the region and to facilitate tangible links between entities, looking for green solutions and potential technology providers — using WIPO GREEN database for sustainable technology. Moreover, this year the project is planned as a long-term process, with field research, a series of meetings and events in the region, including the COP 25 Spain, December , and continued follow-up with participants. Focused on green technologies and creation of sustainable learning environment for its students, Green School looked for a way to generate drinking water in its campus, especially during dry season. Producing up to five liters of water each day just from sunlight and air, the hydropanels ensure access to sustainable potable water for Green Schools students — and inspire them to search for their own innovative solutions to climate challenges. The goal was to enable green tech transfer in the region by connecting technology seekers with potential technology and service providers. Read more about the event.

As such, we all experience the impacts of climate change, albeit to varying degrees, and we share a responsibility to encourage behaviors and solutions that will support the transition to a low-carbon future. In our journey towards a green future, technological innovation is, without doubt, part of the solution.
Under its corporate philosophy “Kyosei” and environmental vision “Action for Green”, Canon has been promoting environmental initiatives, including recycling of consumables for printers and office multifunction devices. Through its technological innovation, Canon will contribute to the realization of a society in which both affluent lifestyles and the global environment coexist.
Canon plans to expand the number of registered technologies in the future. Through this database, Canon expects that corporations and individuals who require technologies related to environmental protection will utilize Canon’s technologies and contribute to global environmental measures. With funding from the Government of Australia and WIPO Asia Pacific, the objective of this project is two-fold: First, to identify specific technology needs in the area of energy, air, water and agriculture in Indonesia and Cambodia with a total of 20 needs identified ; Second, to match the identified needs with corresponding available green technologies.
Energy, air, water and agriculture have been selected as focus sectors for this project. Examples of matchmaking projects include clean technology transfer in South East Asia with a focus on water, in addition to clean technology transfer in East Africa in the areas of water and agriculture. Kopernik seeks to address concrete technology gaps and needs in the areas of water, air, energy and agriculture for communities living in the last mile. Kopernik will match technology needs in water, air, energy and agriculture with appropriate technology providers.
Appropriate solutions will be matched with technology seekers in the last mile.

The suspension came via a vote of show of hands late night on 6 May, which concluded a week-long session of the CDIP that began on 2 May. The week-long meeting saw a lack of political will on the part of developed countries to effect progress at the CDIP, as each agenda item faced strong opposition from the developed countries. The apparent North-South clash peaked late evening of 6 May, as intense disagreements emerged over the project on South-South cooperation that was proposed by the African Group originally proposed by Egypt.
Group B composed of developed countries and the United States were however opposed to the project. In particular, they strongly opposed the proposal over the “exclusivity” of the inter-regional meetings and conferences proposed in the project, which is limited only to developing and least developed countries.
They sought the participation of all Member States in all the events of the project, which was not acceptable to the African Group. According to some sources, during informal consultations, the developed countries also proposed changing the title of the project to include “trilateral” cooperation, in order to include developed countries in the project.
However, such an approach was also not acceptable to the African Group. The developed countries further pushed to reduce the number of conferences. This was accepted by the African Group. In response, France , on behalf of Group B, however called the proposal “asymmetrical” and “unbalanced”.

The World Intellectual Property Office WIPO has recently launched a new initiative to encourage the development of environmentally sustainable solutions addressing climate change. The initiative is called WIPO Green and it is an online market place seeking to connect parties who have technology solutions to environmental, climate or sustainable problems with parties seeking solutions to specific problems. The database allows parties to search for green technology products, services and intellectual property assets, as well as post announcements of needs.
The network is intended to foster commercial relationships between green technology providers and seekers, by making contact information and other resources available. The database provides a repository of available green technologies. Like most matchmaking sites, users need to register to have full access to the information available in the database, to submit information of their own, and to be able to contact other users.
